Boat trip to Belem

Trip from Manaus to Belem in a boat. The boat going in this direction (down stream) takes 4 days as opposed to 5 days the opposite way. Boat to Belem Hammock. I bought it from another traveler in my hostel for 10R. (you could find new ones for 20 Reals at the port) Neighbors It got very crowded with travelers. You can take a shower up stairs. big cargo ship passing by Gasoline station on the river They deftly maneuver along side and jump aboard trying to sell local fruits and shrimps. Passengers were throwing tied plastic bags full of clothes in the water to be collected by the canoes paddled by young children and women from the many surround communities. a big bag of shrimp for $1. killing time One of the mariners taught me many ways to tie a rope. This one was very complicated. When we got close to Belem, the river got narrow. Local people's house. Chilling out on the top deck playing guitar and watching the cloud change it's form and colors.
